Cloudy Stormy Day in Corpus...

Today was like one of those cloudy stormy days we have in the fall in Oregon, only it's 85 degrees here. It's odd looking out the window of the house and thinking it looks cold and gloomy outside and then walking out the door to 85f at 80% humidity. Anyway, I was driving over to the beach to take bandit out for some swimming and some bird chasing when I passed this shallow lagoon with a beautiful white Egret standing in the water. I had my camera bag with me so I grabbed my longest lens and headed out to see how close I could get without scaring off my subject. As I started walking out I stopped for a second and thought about bug spray, but it was windy and I was only going to be out there for a minute or two. So now I'm bent over walking through the shallow water stalking my prey trying to get as close as possible so I get get the best shot. I'm now out about forty yards from the van and thirty yards from the Egret when I get the camera turned on and ready to take some shots and hear this awful buzzing all around my head and face. GIANT MOSQUITOES!!! I try and swat a few of them away and notice that my arms are covered in mosquitoes and now I can feel them on my back eating me alive. I looked through the viewfinder of the camera, focused on the bird, took two shots and ran like hell for the van. Note to self: Always use bug spray when walking in a swamp!

The mosquito bites were TOTALLY worth it! The pictures turned out awesome!!! Do the mosquitos eat bandit too?

I seem to recall some mosquito encounters along those lines. I was thinking they might have screened in Texas by now. Raina mentioned Bandit and mosquitoes, be sure you keep him updated on his heartworm medicine.

I'm glad to see you didn't have any major hurricane damage there -- what a nice "welcome to the neighborhood" you've had so far!

Give my best to Sarah -- how has she been liking the work?
